About the Event

Black Earth Day highlights the unique environmental challenges and leadership within Black communities. The event encourages a more inclusive environmental movement that centers Black experiences, addresses the disproportionate impacts of pollution and climate change, and honors traditions of land stewardship.

Join us for a day of community, learning, and connection as we explore the relationship between land, culture, and sustainability.

From Soil to Strength

Black Earth Day is a hands-on, community-centered experience designed to equip and empower our community with the tools to grow, sustain, and steward our environment. is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Join us at the Carl Maxey Center for a special pre–Black Earth Day film screening on April 11th from 1–5 PM. We’ll be showing two inspiring films: Grasping at the Roots and Rid-All Green Partnership, that highlight community leadership, environmental justice, and the power of urban agriculture. Come learn how communities are reclaiming land, growing food, and building sustainable futures. Refreshments will be provided, and all are welcome to attend.
